Best Sativa Strains in 2023 For An Energetic And Creative High

Sativa and Indica are two names that even people who do not smoke up have heard of. These are the two primary strains of marijuana known globally for their distinct characteristic features. Every marijuana plant traces its lineage to one of the two. In this article, we focus on the Sativa strain – and take a look at some of the top options that you have when it comes to getting the best Sativa strains in 2023.

In our preparation to come up with this article, we have sampled over 30 different strains and eliminated 15 out of them to give you only the best. The strains on our list have been judged on various factors, including their taste, the medicinal benefits that you get from them, the kind of high that they give you, how easy they are to grow, their parental lineage, the rarity of the strain, the THC and CBD levels, etc.

We have also tried to ensure that we only use the most reputed of seed banks here so we have identified seeds from Seedsman, I Love Growing Marijuana (ILGM), and Crop King Seeds. These are three seed banks that ship internationally and are known to be the most reputed, accepting a number of different payment methods and providing the best quality of seeds. However, before we get into our list of the best Sativa seeds and strains, let us first give a quick look at this strain and understand what makes it unique.

Understanding the Sativa Strain: Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica are the two main types of cannabis plants out there. Plants of the Sativa strain are naturally found to grow in places where the temperatures are hot and the climate is arid. These are also places where days are longer than nights for most of the year. This is the equatorial belt, such as Africa, Central America, West Asia – and even in some places in the South East Asian region. However, they can be grown indoors all over the world by recreating these conditions inside a grow tent.

Sativa plants generally grow longer in height than their Indica counterparts and tend to have thin leaves. When growing outdoors without any human intervention, some of these plants can grow as tall as 10 to 12 feet in height. One of the characteristic features of the Sativa strain is that it carries more THC content and only a trace amount of CBD in it.

This high-THC-low-CBD concentration gives those who consume this weed a very strong ‘buzz’ and it is useful for those who want to smoke weed for recreational purposes. The kind of high that you experience when you consume Sativa weed is one that energizes, and gives you a ‘head rush’ instead of a ‘body high’. It allows you to think more creatively and is preferred by people who create art and music. This is the kind of strain you would want to smoke at parties – helping you socialize better and helping you lose inhibitions. The Indica strain, on the other hand, is for those who want a ‘couch-lock’ or want to just relax and go to sleep.

The Sativa strain is a classic ‘daytime’ strain. It is known to help one increase focus, and also has some benefits for those dealing with depression-related mental health challenges. Now that you have a fair bit of idea about Sativa strains, let us take a closer look at some of the best options you have when it comes to this strain.

1. Super Silver Haze Feminized

Super Silver Haze Feminized
  • Dominant Strain: 90% Sativa dominant
  • THC Level: Up to 18%
  • Effect: Creative, Energetic, Happy-High
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: ILGM
  • CBD Level: Insignificant
  • Flavor Profile: Earthy/Lemony/Skunk-Like
  • Flowering Time: Around 9 to 10 Weeks
  • Yield: 19 oz per 3x3ft

The Super Silver Haze strain is an overwhelmingly Sativa-dominant strain, offering 90% Sativa levels. The strain comes as a cross between Northern Lights, Haze Sativa and Skunk #1 hybrid – three very well-known strains in their own right. Super Silver Haze is an award winning strain and has been awarded by ‘High Times’ on multiple occasions. These are feminized seeds that you can buy from ILGM seed bank – and they are available worldwide.

When growing this weed, you need to know that this strain grows best in warm temperatures and loves a lot of light. It takes about 9 weeks to flower and provides about 9oz per square foot when grown indoors. Super Silver Haze comes with up to 19% THC content – but don’t go by the number, we’ll use the phrase to describe this strain that ILGM uses ‘deceptively strong’. When we initially saw the 19% markup, we thought that this is something that could give us a mild buzz, but it was really potent! The effect that this strain has on you is very quick and you’ll start feeling the buzz in just a couple of hits.

The ‘effects’ that we talk about are all about a happy high. You start feeling a sense of euphoria and a general sense of happiness after smoking this strain. It makes you giggle out loud, and is a good strain to smoke with some friends. The flavor is herbal, but it comes with some spicy notes too. It gives a very earthy sort of a smell when you exhale it. Lastly, for hours after you’ve smoked it, you’ll be able to feel a lemony fresh taste that it leaves in your mouth.

2. Lambs Breath Autoflower Marijuana Seeds

Lambs Breath Autoflower Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 85% Sativa-dominant
  • THC Level: 19 to 25%
  • Effect: Exciting head-high
  • Type of Seeds: Autoflowering
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: 0.3%
  • Flavor Profile: Skunk-like, pungent, woody and cheesy
  • Flowering Time: Up to 9 weeks
  • Yield: 150 to 200grams

This is a strain that grows out in the nature in Jamaica and other similar Caribbean islands. While this has been around for a long time, it is only now that the demand for it is rising, especially among North American consumers who want a more ‘authentic’ sort of a weed that comes with a very natural flavor. This is also a strain that is quite easy to grow and can grow indoors as well as outdoors without too much of supervision. Apart from being an 85% Sativa dominant strain, Lambs Breath also contains 10% of the ruderalis strain and 5% Indica.

The strain carries anywhere between 19 to 25% of THC content – and ensures that you get a very cerebral high when you smoke it. It makes the head feel lighter and allows the thoughts to rush in. This, too, much like the Super Silver Haze above, tends to have a very rapid effect on those who smoke it. You start feeling lightheaded in only a couple of drags. It also helps energize the body.

One of the most distinct things about this strain is the kind of smell that it offers. You get a very ‘traditional’ smell of marijuana here. It comes with a very earthy sort of a flavor profile, giving you a woody/pine-like hint in the mouth, and leaves behind a pungent smelling skunk-like smell, which is the classic smell one associates with marijuana. These buds are generally trichome rich and a couple of hits later you’d be floating away in the land of Bob Marley!

3. Durban Poison Feminized Seeds

Durban Poison Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 100% Sativa dominant strain
  • THC Level: Up to 20%
  • Effect: Improves mood and enhances focus
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: ILGM
  • CBD Level: Insignificant quantity
  • Flavor Profile: Sweet, Citric, and Fruity notes
  • Flowering Time: Up to 14 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 15 oz per 3×3 ft

Durban Poison is among some of the most well-known names in the Sativa family, especially if you are looking for a pure Sativa strain. One of the first things that stands out about it and makes it really special is that this is a 100% Sativa strain and does not contain any elements from other strains, giving you some of the purest Sativa experiences. Durban Poison gets its name from the place where it originated, Durban in South Africa. However, nothing to worry about that last bit, as it doesn’t have any poisonous properties!

The strain carries a very fruity and citric taste and gives you notes of grapefruits and other similar citric elements. When you exhale it out, it leaves behind a sweet smelling smell with some pungent notes. All in all, it is a total delight for those who like to smoke weed for the taste of it.  With THC content up to 20%, you’ve got to be careful when you smoke it as it takes a while to hit you but when it does, it ‘has’ you.

People who haven’t tried it before might take a few drags too many before realizing it is hitting them all at once. We recommend you pace yourself and smoke it a little slowly. Besides that, this strain needs a Mediterranean sort of a climate to grow, so best keep the temperatures warm.

Lastly, do note that growing this strain will take some patience. It takes between 10 to 14 weeks to flower and needs quite a bit of care. This strain performs best when grown outdoors, but you can grow it indoors too. We recommend using the hydroponic growth mechanism for growing this indoors. When you grow it indoors, you can get about 5 ounces per square meter. Outdoor growers can get up to 15 ounces per plant, which is quite something! A strain that we recommend the purists to totally check out.

4. Hippieberry Feminised Seeds

Hippieberry Feminised Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 70% Sativa dominant strain
  • THC Level: 15-20% THC
  • Effect: Euphoric and uplifting
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: Minimal
  • Flavor Profile: Largely on the sweeter side
  • Flowering Time: Up to 10 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 500 grams per square meter

The hippieberry strain is listed on Seedsman, which is another major international seed bank. It has been bred by Exotic Seeds and carries the genetic profile of Loud Berry and Hippie OG strains which have been crossed, giving the offspring the name. This is a rather rare and unique strain which comes with a branched structure and is rather easy to grow. The strain is loved by growers because this does not take a lot of time to grow and the yield isn’t too low either.

When we tried out this strain, we were left amazed by the kind of taste that it gives you. It is largely on the sweeter side, but not something like what you would see in Runtz family of strains which are rather berry-like. Hippieberry doesn’t really have too many citric notes, but certainly carries a toffee-like or a candy-like property which leaves behind a refreshing taste. We even tried vaping some of this and the effect felt even better and the high was even smoother. We’d recommend this to you if you are into vaping!

The strain offers dense flowers and has an overall pleasing sort of a ‘high’ that it gives you. It is a 70% Sativa strain so you will feel a lot of the uplifting and energetic characteristics, but once you’re past that phase and the effect is waning down, this one won’t keep you up and about like other Sativa strains but would help you ease out towards the end and hit the bed. All in all, a rare strain with a great taste and a good amount of THC! Do check the Hippieberry Sativa strain out.

5. Amnesia Haze Feminized

Amnesia Haze Feminized
  • Dominant Strain: 80% Sativa-dominant; 20% Indica

  • Seed Bank: ILGM
  • CBD Level: Very little
  • Flavor Profile: Lemony, Earthy and Sweet
  • Flowering Time: Up to 12 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 25oz per 3×3 ft

Amnesia Haze is one of the most popular Sativa strains which is loved by stoners all over the world. This is something that you can buy online easily and grow easily as well. The kind of high that it gives you is mellow, but one that makes you happy and giggly. This is a really good marijuana strain for parties and events where you want to socialize. This is also the kind of strain that you can smoke up recreationally with your friends while sitting in a circle and discussing flying cars a la That 70’s show. The strain makes people talk a lot and helps convert introverts into extroverts.

One of the things that makes this strain so good is that it is a cross between a lot of other plants. Amnesia Haze includes genetics from Thai Sativa, Amnesia Haze Indica, Hawaiian Sativa, Jamaican Sativa, South Asian Indica, Cambodian Sativa and Haze Sativa. This is truly a very ‘global’ sort of a strain as it carries lineage from all over the world. A winner of the Sativa Cup and the Cannabis Cup, this strain is extremely popular.

When growing it indoors, do know that it tends to grow really large and you’ll need to manage your space accordingly. This is a better fit for growing in a grow room rather than a grow tent. The strain needs a temperature between 72 to 80F maintained, and it needs a lot of light too. The strain loves air as well so make sure your air circulation is on point. It flowers in about 11 to 12 weeks, and you get a yield of about 25 oz per 3×3 ft, which is quite a decent quantity.

6. Sour Apple Auto Feminised Seeds

Sour Apple Auto Feminised Seeds

  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: Low
  • Flavor Profile: Apple, Fruity, Sour and Diesel-like
  • Flowering Time: Up to 13 weeks
  • Yield: Exact amount unspecified but average levels

The sour apple autoflowering strain tells you right in its name about what to expect off it. This is a strain that carries a fruity taste with notes of apple in it. It leaves behind a sour taste in the mouth, and a pungent smell when you release the smoke. Apple-flavored weed is rather unique and is preferred by those who want to relish the taste, as well as the high. The strain comes as a cross between Magic Melon Auto and Humboldt Sour Diesel strains. While Seedsman doesn’t specify the exact percentages, this is indeed a Sativa-dominant strain. The breeder involved in the creation of this strain is Humboldt Seed Co.

You’ve got to be a little patient with this strain as it can take up to 13 weeks to attain peak flowering and get ready for harvest. The resulting flowers have hints of green and purple, along with white resin which makes it a rather colorful bunch. It is a very ‘presentable’ weed and makes for a good gift as well, in case you want to grow some weed for your friends and family.

This is easy to grow indoors as well as outdoors and shouldn’t give the growers a hard time. You need to be patient with it and allow it to grow at its own pace. The strain offers THC levels up to 24% which is rather strong. It not only gives you a happy-high, but also an ecstatic high. When we tried it, we found it to be a very unique tasting strain which kept us up and active for hours! We’d best recommend you to not try it in the late hours or you’ll find yourself awake till the morning.

7. Jack Herer Autoflower Marijuana Seeds

Jack Herer Autoflower Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 70% Sativa-dominant, 20% Indica, 10% Ruderalis
  • THC Level: 16.25%
  • Effect: Euphoric, Energetic and Happy
  • Type of Seeds: Autoflowering
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: 0.14%
  • Flavor Profile: Pine-like, Skunky, Earthy
  • Flowering Time: 10 weeks
  • Yield: 150g outdoors and 250g indoors.

Jack Herer is one of the top Sativa strains out there, which gets its name from ‘The Emperor of Hemp’ Jack Herer. The strain was originally created by Sensei seeds back in the 90s but has since found many variants all over the world. This is one such variant, and the seeds here are autoflowering. The strain generally takes about 70 days (10 weeks) to reach the harvest phase. This variant of Jack Herer is a mix of 70% Sativa lineage, 20% Indica and 10% ruderalis lineage. It was crafted by breeders in Spain.

The strain carries a very distinct smell, which is skunk-like strong, but also carries hints of earthy and fresh woody pine. The taste in your mouth is fresh and pine-like while the smell that lingers when you exhale is that of classic skunk-like marijuana. Some tinges of lemon and orange might also be felt occassionally. We personally didn’t experience it when we tried out this strain. One of our staff members described the taste of this Sativa strain like smoking ‘green tea’. We giggled at the joke. Or maybe we were just too high by that time.

Jack Herer has a very uplifting sort of a high and is excellent for someone who is coping with anxiety-related issues. This is particularly a great strain to kick off some social anxiety, and attending public functions, weddings, or parties gets easier if you’ve taken a few drags of this strain! This is an ideal strain to grow indoors too, as it does not grow too tall – usually somewhere between 4 to 6 ft, which is rather unusual for a Sativa plant. While the yield is modest at best, this is an easy to grow plant and is a two-thumbs-up recommendation from us if you are a stoner who is just starting off!

8. Dream Queen Feminised Seeds

Dream Queen Feminised Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: Sativa
  • THC Level: Up to 23%
  • Effect: Happy high, Giggly and Euphoric
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: Negligible
  • Flavor Profile: Orange, Pine and Skunk-like
  • Flowering Time: Almost 7 weeks
  • Yield: High levels of yield

Dream Queen is a strain that also comes from Humboldt Seed Co., which is also the breeder of the Sour Apple strain that we saw above. This strain is a three-way cross between Mazar Star, Skunk #1, and Green Crack strains of marijuana. This is a Sativa-dominant strain which carries a really strong punch and is potent enough to get you really buzzed in just a few drags. The strain carries THC concentrations up to 23% and carries negligible amounts of CBD. This is a recreational strain which is great for parties and get-togethers!

One of the first things that you need to know is that this is possibly the fastest-growing strain on our list. It is ready to harvest in about 50 days, which is really, really quick. In about 7 weeks, you have a fully-grown plant ready. This isn’t even an autoflowering strain which makes it even more impressive. You can grow it indoors as well as outdoors. For those growing it outdoors, the ideal harvest time is the last two weeks of September.

The strain carries a very fresh and fruit-like taste to it, When we tried it out, we got strong notes of orange and pine, which gives it a citric and sweet flavor profile. Interestingly enough, when you exhale the smoke, the kind of smell that lingers around isn’t anything like what you taste in your mouth. It is the classic skunk-like smell of marijuana that floats around you. The high is a giggly-happy-ecstatic high which hits you gradually. An ideal weekend smoke if you are planning on having some friends over, this is totally the strain to carry along!

9. Blue Dream Autoflower

Blue Dream Autoflower
  • Dominant Strain: 80% Sativa, 20% Indica
  • THC Level: Up to 21%

  • CBD Level: Up to 2%
  • Flavor Profile: Berry, Vanilla, Sweet, Fruity
  • Flowering Time: Up to 14 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 15 oz per 3×3 ft

This is an autoflowering variant of the Blue Dream strain, which is created by crossing a Ruderalis strain along with the classic Blue Dream. This is one of the most unique Sativa strains as it carries a somewhat higher CBD% in comparison to most other names in the Sativa family. This is one of those rare Sativa strains that give a relaxing high rather than an energetic buzz. This is still not a downer and it will give you quite a creative perspective on things – but you do feel a bit of a body high alongside it.

This strain can be grown indoors as well as outdoors, and it can be grown around the year. The strain gets its name from the blue-purple color of its flowers and foliage, giving it a very attractive look. The strain begins to show early signs of flowering at about 5 weeks, but it can sometimes take as many as 14 weeks to get to the harvest so patience is the key here. The strain provides a moderate amount of yields, ranging between 5 to 15 oz, but the kind of high that you get here is totally worth it.

We experienced a very comforting, relaxing sort of a high from this strain – something that we usually associate with Indica strains. It almost felt like one is lying down on the grass on a pre-winter afternoon and looking at butterflies. It’s a warm-and-fuzzy sort of a happy high that you experience. Once the effects of this strain start to weaken up, you feel very relaxed and refreshed. The strain has quite a sweet, fruit-like taste, and leaves behind a pinewood sort of a minty smell. This is the kind of weed you smoke when you want to clear your mind and relax.

10. Apricot Papaya Feminised Seeds

Apricot Papaya Feminised Seeds

From the makers of the Sour Apple and Dream Queen strains, the Apricot Papaya Feminized seeds are also bred by Humboldt Seeds Co. and are listed on the Seedsman Seed Bank. This again, is true to the speciality of the breeder – focusing on fruity flavours. This is one of the simplest and the most easy-to-grow types of strains out here on this list, which ensures that beginners can grow this with ease. The strain also delivers a high yield, though the seed bank hasn’t really specified the quantity.

These are feminized seeds of the Apricot Papaya strain which ensure that all the plants will be female and will have flowers. The Apricot Papaya strain is created by crossing Green Crack x Papaya, giving it a very distinct and fruity flavor profile. Those who plan to grow it indoors can see flowering begin at 8 weeks, while those who grow it outdoors can harvest the strain around late September to mid October.

The buds have a ‘platinum green’ sort of a color to them when they mature which appears very fresh and tempting. The kind of high that we experienced when we smoked this bud was that of a very energetic sort. It not only helped increase the focus, but also ensured that all our tiredness was gone as well! It was a very refreshing experience. We totally recommend this as a great afternoon joint after a tiring morning. Makes for a great companion for all your backpack trails and treks as well!

11. Alaskan Thunder Fuck Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Alaskan Thunder Fuck Feminized Marijuana Seeds

  • THC Level: Up to 25%
  • Effect: Heavy head-buzz and euphoria
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: 0.6%
  • Flavor Profile: Fruity, Citric, Sweet and Banana-like
  • Flowering Time: Up to 9 Weeks

Alaskan Thunder Fuck is among some of the most popular and loved names when it comes to marijuana strains of the Sativa family. The strain is known for giving a quick and strong head-high that is bound to shake-up first time users and really impress them with the buzz. The strain is easy to grow, provides good yields, and offers a high THC concentration. The CBD concentration isn’t much and there aren’t many medicinal benefits that it has to offer. However, for those who enjoy their ‘hit’, this is totally the strain for you!

In just the first few hits, you will start feeling the euphoria that comes along with this strain. This strain has a very uplifting and cheering sort of an effect and works wonders for those seeking stress relief. This is also a strain that allows you to focus better and is generally seen as ‘morning marijuana’ which you can smoke in the morning to get that boost of energy that will help you power through the day.

This is an easy-to-grow strain and takes about 9 weeks to attain peak flowering. One of the most distinct things about Alaskan Thunder Fuck is the kind of taste it offers you. A few hits of a joint carrying this strain would give you a very fruit-bowl sort of a feel. You can taste bananas, oranges, and some citric fruits. While the taste is all sweet, the smoke that you exhale carries a pungent, diesel-like smell that one typically associates with marijuana.

The strain prefers a cool and sunny climate which is quite different from most usual Sativa strains. This makes it an ideal strain for growing indoors. You got to watch out for the height as these plants tend to grow quite tall. Lastly, the yield that you get is pretty generous and impressive!

12. Strawberry Cough Feminized

Strawberry Cough Feminized
  • Dominant Strain: 80% Sativa-dominant, 20% Indica
  • THC Level: Up to 18%

  • CBD Level: Insignificant
  • Flavor Profile: Berry-like, Sweet, Skunk-like smell
  • Flowering Time: Usually about 8 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 17 oz per 3x3ft

This is a strain that is for those who don’t mind a little bit of coughing. The smoke tends to be a little harsh from time to time and we’d like to be upfront about that. We don’t even have to be upfront about that because the name points it out! This is a strain that comes with a strawberry-like taste and triggers mild coughing. However, the kind of high that you enjoy once that initial hiccup is done with, is absolutely divine!

Strawberry cough comes out with THC levels up to 18%. This isn’t a lot compared to some other strains that we have here, but when it comes to experiencing a high that is a combination of being mellow as well as being energetic, this is totally the strain for you. This is great for those who don’t like or aren’t used to high amounts of THC, as this is just good enough to get you high but not so much that you would be zonked out! There isn’t too much CBD in this so the medicinal effects are minimal.

This strain is loved for the strawberry-like taste and smell that it leaves behind. This is also a very easy-to-grow strain and is quite beginner-friendly. It can grow indoors, outdoors, and in environments that are slightly hotter or colder compared to what is actually needed. This is a low-maintenance plant. When you grow it indoors, the yield is about 14oz per 3×3 ft, which is average. The strain has a rather calming effect on stoners while also giving a happy high. When we tried out this strain, we laughed away like giggly teenagers, discussing trekking trails and backpacking trips. It was indeed a very happy feeling!

Amnesia Haze by itself is a rather easy-to-grow plant. However, this one makes things even simpler because it is an autoflowering variant. The strain features 75% Sativa lineage, 15% Indica, and 10% Ruderalis genetics as well. There’s about 1.2% CBD content in the strain, which is higher than most other names on this list, giving you a lot of therapeutic benefits such as pain relief, combating headaches, and stress relief. This is a strain that enhances productivity and can totally be consumed before a long day at work.

The taste and smell of Amnesia Haze have been described as ‘dank’ by Crop King Seeds, the seed bank. To simplify it, we’d point out that this offers you the most ‘classic’ taste and smell experience that you can expect out of weed. Nothing fancy, no fruits, and no exotic flavors, but this is something that purists really enjoy, as it gives them the most authentic taste. The strain flowers in about 8 to 9 weeks and offers up to 250 grams of yield. If you are starting off with your grower’s journey, we’d strongly recommend you to try this out – especially if you are looking for an autoflowering variant.

14. Super Orange Haze Auto Feminised Seeds

Super Orange Haze Auto Feminised Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 75% Sativa dominant strain
  • THC Level: Unspecified but around 25%
  • Effect: Intense buzz
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized, Autoflowering
  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: Unspecified, low
  • Flavor Profile: Tangy, Lemony, Citric, Sweet and Sour
  • Flowering Time: About 8 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 150 grams per plant

This is a strain that is created by crossing the Super Lemon Haze and SODK F5 strains. It has been developed by Mephisto Genetics and is available to purchase in a pack size of three seeds at Seedsman Seed Bank. These are feminized and autoflowering seeds, making them easy to grow. This is a Sativa-dominant variant, which carries up to 75% Sativa genetics. Despite being such a Sativa-dominant plant, one can notice that it comes with leaves that are rather broad and somewhat ‘fan-like’, reminding one of Indica plants.

The strain gets its name from the tangy orange-like citric taste that it carries. It carries a lemony taste which is a ‘sweet-and-sour’ sort of a combo. The buds that grow out of it are rich in resin and are rather dense. It is a fairly easy-to-grow strain and doesn’t require too much effort. The plants tend to grow between 100 to 120 cm when grown indoors which is usually between 3.5 to 4ft, making them ideal for indoor grow tent growers. Being rich in resin, the buds that come from these plants are great for extraction purposes too.

While the exact amount of THC and CBD content isn’t specified by the manufacturer, one can safely presume it to be somewhere between 18 to 25% based on the kind of ‘high’ it gives you. Each plant here offers between 90 to 150 grams of usable buds which isn’t a lot but when it comes to quality, it is really unparalleled, especially if you enjoy a little bit of a flavor in your weed. The strain doesn’t really carry too many medicinal benefits but works wonders for those who are dealing with mental health-related issues such as anxiety and depression. Do give it a try if you enjoy a mouthful of flavors and a strong buzz along with that!

15. Green Goblin Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Green Goblin Feminized Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 65% Sativa Dominant, 35% Indica
  • THC Level: Up to 24%
  • Effect: Upbeat, Happy, Euphoric, Energetic
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: Negligible
  • Flavor Profile: Skunk-Like, Citric
  • Flowering Time: 8 to 9 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 300 grams per plant

Last on our list but not the least by any standards, this is the Green Goblin strain. No points for guessing which iconic Spider-Man villain lends their name to this strain. This is a cross between the Skunk #1 and Northern Lights strain, both of which are incredibly popular on their own. Green Goblin is largely a Sativa-dominant strain, offering you 65% Sativa and 35% Indica genetics. It offers a very strong head-high and gives you a burst of energy that lasts for quite a long time.

The strain comes with a skunk-like pungent smell, which smells of diesel. The flavor, too, is quite skunk-like and has earthy notes. Occasionally, you can taste some citric notes too, giving a tangy burst for some moments. The strain starts off by giving you a mind high which is slow at first but then gives you a major boost of energy. This is a very upbeat and uplifting sort of a strain and when we tried it, we found the high to be very dreamy and cheerful. This is totally a mid-day strain that will help you power through the second half like a breeze! It carries about 24% THC levels.

One thing that you must know about Green Goblin is that this is a very easy to grow strain, even if you are just starting off with growing weed. The strain adapts really well to the indoor environment and ensures that you can grow it easily in 8 to 9 weeks. In order to get the best yield out of it, we strongly recommend you to prune and trim the bud from time to time. Make sure you’re providing it mild to cool temperatures, but not too cool or too warm. It can provide up to 300 grams of yield per plant, which is a decent amount.

Editor’s Pick: Which Sativa Strain to Choose From the List?

Now that you know which are the fifteen best options that you have, it is time for us to reveal our picks. Personally, the editor’s favorite out of all these is the Durban Poison. While it does take quite a while to grow, the kind of yield that you get from it is worth the wait. The flavor profile, the kind of high, the effects it has on cheering you up – it is all worth it. Totally one of our favorites from this list.

Besides that, if you are looking for something that is a little more ‘flavor specific’, then we might recommend you to go for the Dream Queen. If taste isn’t something that you care too much about and what a more ‘pure’ marijuana experience, we recommend you to try out Jack Herer or the Green Goblin, both of which deliver a strong punch and an authentic taste and smell experience.

All said and done, the kind of weed that you decide to smoke up is totally your choice at the end of the day. It is based on a variety of combinations including the taste, smell, the kind of high, the medicinal and therapeutic benefits it offers, etc. If there is any Sativa strain that you love to smoke but we have not included here, do let us know in the comments and we shall try and feature that strain as soon as we can!

Buyer’s Guide to the Best Sativa Strains

Those who choose to smoke Sativa strains are generally looking for a particular kind of high. Sativa strains look pretty much the same. They’re all tall and have slender leaves. All of them have a specific kind of effect on the human brain. All these characteristics come to Sativa plants via their genetic composition. However, there is much more to choosing your ideal strain than just its genetic composition. There are thousands of Sativa hybrids out there – and hence it becomes difficult to choose which strains one must go for.

It is keeping these things in mind that we have developed this buyer’s guide to the best Sativa strains. Going through this section will help you be aware of everything that you need to keep in mind while you choose your ideal marijuana strain. Here are the factors that you need to consider before buying your strain:

  • Composition of the Strain: While finding a 100% Sativa dominant strain, which is a ‘Pure Sativa’ is extremely rare, one can find strains ranging from 50% Sativa-dominant to 90% Sativa-dominant with ease. Depending on how much Sativa-like effect you want to experience, you can choose your strain based on your needs.

Typically, something with 90% Sativa dominance will be a highly energizing strain, and a plant that carries 50% Sativa and 50% Indica genetics will give you a more relaxing but euphoric feeling at the same time. Seed banks usually list the Indica/Sativa split up-front. We’ve done it for all the plants on our list too.

  • THC Concentration: Another percentage figure that you’ve got to consider, apart from the Sativa/Indica split is that of THC concentration. The higher the percentage of THC in the plant, the stronger the effects of the strain that you are going to feel. Seed banks tend to list THC figures on the page that details the strain, and if you want a very strong ‘high’, you might want to go for a strain that carries upwards of 23% THC concentration. However, for most regular recreational users, something between 17 to 23% does the job really well. You can choose the best Sativa strain of your choice based on the kind of effect you want on yourself.
  • Flavor Profile: There are two kinds of stoners out there – firstly, ones who prefer smoking a more classic and vintage-tasting marijuana strain, and secondly, the ones who like different tastes and want to experiment with the flavors. There are hundreds of flavors out there. Some strains taste like chocolate, others have a coffee-like taste. There are berry-like, pine-like, orange-like, skunk-like, and even acidic-tasting strains. Do make sure you’re checking out the flavor profile of the strain before you choose one if the taste and aroma are something that is important to you.
  • Ease of Growth: One more thing that growers must keep in mind before they buy their seeds is to check out the ease of growth. This is an important factor to keep in mind if you are a first-time grower or someone who has only been growing for the past few seasons. There are some strains that are somewhat more difficult to grow compared to others. This can be due to the size of the strain, their nutritional requirement, or they may need a specific technique of growth to be grown, etc. Easy-growing strains are good for new growers, but experienced growers can choose to skip this factor.
  • Flowering Time: Not every grower has the luxury of time. If you are someone who is looking forward to getting their plants to harvest quickly, or are starting late in the season, you might want to consider growing some plants that have a shorter flowering time. There are strains which are ready in about 7 weeks of flowering, while there are others that can take as many as 14 weeks to fully mature. You can choose the strain based on the amount of time you have. It is for this reason that we have listed the flowering time for all the strains on our list. Most seed banks also do this.
  • The Kind of Buzz: When you are buying a Sativa plant, you already have an idea about the kind of buzz you want to experience. Sativa-dominant strains generally tend to carry a strong head high, which can give you a very happy and euphoric experience. People who consume Sativa strains tend to do so to feel more active, productive and uplifted. Sativa generally helps people focus better. If this is the kind of high you want to experience, it is only then you should go for a Sativa strain. You might want to opt for an Indica strain if you want to relax or sleep better.
  • The Space in Your Grow Room: This is something that is quite Sativa-specific. It is common knowledge that Sativa plants tend to grow pretty tall. Sometimes, these plants can grow as tall as 12 to 14 feet in height. This is why a lot of Sativa growers tend to grow their plants outdoors. However, if you plan on growing Sativa strains indoors, you might want to choose one which has a significant amount of Indica DNA in it so that it remains shorter. In any case, make sure that the seeds you are buying give rise to a plant that can fit in your grow room or your grow tent.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About the Sativa Strain

Here are the answers to some of the most common and frequently asked questions (FAQs) that people have about the Sativa strain. Do go through these questions and answers as this will help you get a better and an all-round picture of what to expect from this strain:

When plants of the Sativa strain grow outdoors in nature, they tend to grow up to 12 feet in height. However, if one were to grow it with human interference, they generally go up to about 8 to 10 feet. This height takes a major hit when you grow it indoors – as you would see them grow to about 6 to 8 feet. The biggest difference between Sativa and Indica plants is on how they feel like when you consume them. Sativa plants are generally seen as ‘uppers’ and Indica plants are generally seen as ‘downers’. While there are obvious exceptions, these are largely the roles that they play. Consuming the Sativa strain of marijuana would help you get a creative and productive sort of a rush that allows you to focus better on the task you are doing and consuming Indica strains would help you relax and sleep better. Other than that, Indica has large fan like leaves while Sativa generally has thin and finger-like leaves. Sativa plants tend to grow taller than Indica plants too. The primary difference remains in the effect that they have on you when you smoke the weed.

This is why it is a very popular marijuana strain at parties and public events.

4. What are some of the side effects of smoking Sativa strains?

The side effects that you face after smoking the Sativa strain are pretty similar to what you would see after smoking any other strain. These include paranoia and nausea in case you smoke up a little too much of this weed. There’s also insomnia that is associated with Sativa, especially if you’re smoking it late in the evening or at night – because Sativa is an upper, it can keep you awake for long hours. Sativa also makes you want to eat more and gives you a lot of ‘munchies’ – but that is true for most types of weed out there. Dizziness and the feeling of ‘dry mouth’ are two more symptoms of the Sativa strain. Lastly, you also get red eyes from smoking this strain.

5. What are some of the health benefits of Sativa strains?
