Kush strains are quite special given the kind of relaxing yet strong high that they provide. Members of our team tried out over 20 of these strains and have finally come up with this list of the fifteen best options that we have when it comes to the Kush strains. We won’t lie, we had a lot of fun curating this list – and a lot of munchies were involved too.

However, before we proceed further with the list of the best Kush strains, let us take a closer look at understanding what truly makes a ‘Kush’ strain.

Understanding Kush Strains: Marijuana plants are classified under two major strains at first – they are either Indica plants or Sativa plants. However, there are a lot of subcategories too, based on where they grow, their color and appearance, and the kind of taste and smell that they give. These include the likes of ‘Purple’, ‘Diesel’, ‘Skunk’, ‘Kush’, and ‘Runtz’ classifications among others. The ‘Kush’ classification basically indicates that this strain traces its lineage from the Indo-Afghan region, growing around the Hindu Kush belt. The word Kush comes from the Hindu Kush mountains.

These strains are generally dense and broad and don’t grow too tall. They are overwhelmingly Indica-dominant, generally having 75% or greater Indica lineage, though there are some exceptions. Weed that traces its origin to this region is usually rather pungent and skunk-like, it also carries the taste of spices, pepper, and herbs. Sometimes you can also find a citrus-like taste in it. There are a number of fruit-flavored variants created by crossing the original Kush plants with fruit-flavored plants, creating a better-tasting hybrid.

Talking of the kind of high that Kush strains can provide you, you generally get a very strong and relaxing effect out of them. Kush strains provide a sedative-like effect and help slow down racing thoughts, making it great for anxiety. These strains are often crossed with Sativa plants to provide a happy high, as Sativa tends to have an uplifting effect while the Indica lineage will help you relax. There is a mild cerebral high associated with some Kush plants, while almost all of them will give you a very refreshing body high.

Now that you know what a Kush strain truly is and the kind of effects it has, let us take a look at our list of the best such strains out there that you can buy and grow by yourselves:

1. Bubba Kush Feminized Seeds

Bubba Kush Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 100% Indica dominant
  • THC Level: Up to 22%
  • Effect: Euphoric, Relaxing, Couch-Lock
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: ILGM
  • CBD Level: Under 1%
  • Flavor Profile: Coffee, Nuts, Spicy, Herbal
  • Flowering Time: About 8 to 9 Weeks
  • Yield: Somewhere between 14 to 17 ounces per square meter (indoors)

Since we’re starting off a list of Kush strains, we decided to start off with one of the most famous names in this category, the Bubba Kush strain. This is a 100% Indica dominant strain that does not carry any trace of a Sativa lineage and offers a very pure Indica experience. It allows you to relax and unwind, and carries a massive 22% THC concentration which can truly knock your socks off!

No one knows the exact lineage of Bubba Kush strains – while some believe that this is a cross between OG Kush and an unknown New Orleans Indica strain, there are others who believe that Northern Lights might also be involved in this lineage. In either case, Bubba Kush has been around since the 90s and the lineage doesn’t even matter anymore.

Bubba Kush offers a very strong and relaxing high. When our team tried out this strain, it didn’t take too long for us to feel the effects. The strain induces a rather strong couch-lock feeling, and we finished watching 4 hours of TV while we were under the influence of this strain. It helps you relax and provides a very refreshing feeling. The kind of high you feel with Bubba Kush is not just your typical numbing sort of a high, but a Euphoric slowdown, which makes you happy while you relax.

We won’t recommend Bubba Kush to those who are just about starting out with their marijuana-growing journey. But if you’ve grown once or twice, you’re good enough to go for this one. The strain takes about 9 weeks to flower and offers about 14 ounces per square meter when grown indoors. Bubba Kush has a coffee-and-nuts sort of a taste, and when you exhale the smoke, it leaves behind a herbal, spice-like smell around.

2. Cookies Kush Feminized Seeds

Cookies Kush Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 70% Indica-dominant, 30% Sativa
  • THC Level: Up to 24%
  • Effect: Relaxing, Therapeutic
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: 1.2% CBD
  • Flavor Profile: Chocolate and Mint
  • Flowering Time: About 8 to 9 Weeks
  • Yield: About 650 grams per square meter

Cookies Kush is a Kush-type strain produced by the breeders at Barney’s Farm, and being sold at the Seedsman Seed Bank. This is a 70% Indica-dominant strain, which comes as a cross between the Girl Scout Cookies strain and the Rolex OG Kush strain. This is a great tasting strain that comes with a high THC concentration and a somewhat higher-than-usual CBD level too. It is also an easy-to-grow strain that offers high yields.

You can grow the Cookies Kush strain indoors or outdoors, it will continue to grow just as well. The strain adapts to conditions really well. However, if you plan on growing it, we’ve got one pro-tip for you. Make sure you provide it with lots of air. This strain loves air circulation and a little bit of a breeze. When this plant matures, you will notice dense and thick buds which are quite juicy. When you grow this strain indoors, it will be ready in just about 8 to 9 weeks, and the yield that you get is actually pretty impressive – about 650 grams per square meter indoors.

Cookies Kush also features a very high THC concentration, that of 24%. The strain gives a comforting and relaxing sort of a high which is great to end a tiring day. We won’t recommend smoking this up early in the morning because it can induce some levels of lethargy if consumed at a time when you need to be active. This is a great strain if you want to go to sleep though.

Lastly, this strain also carries about 1.2% CBD content, which is great for people looking for medicinal properties or therapeutic benefits of marijuana. The strain also tastes quite different from what you might experience in other Kush strains and leaves behind a chocolaty feeling in your mouth. There are some notes of mint that can be felt when you exhale the smoke, especially towards the sides of your tongue. The smoke isn’t harsh either and this is a really enjoyable Kush strain.

3. Cali OG Kush Haze Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Cali OG Kush Haze Feminized Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 70% Sativa-dominant, 30% Indica
  • THC Level: 24% THC content
  • Effect: Euphoria, Stress Relief, Relaxing, Long-Lasting
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: Usually about 0.5%
  • Flavor Profile: Skunk Like, Earthy, Spicy
  • Flowering Time: Usually between 9 to 10 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 500 grams per square meter

A much-loved and highly-rated set of seeds across seed banks, the Cali OG Kush x Haze is a mix between the Kush-type cannabis plants and the Haze-type cannabis plants, giving you the best of both worlds. The strain has been created by crossing the Amnesia Haze strain with the OG Kush strain – giving you this powerful offspring. We call it powerful because it carries a very strong THC concentration of about 24% which can pack in quite a hit.

Talking of getting a ‘hit’, the high that you experience here is more Sativa-like Euphoric, given the genetic breakdown of the strain. However, since this strain also belongs to the Kush family, it provides a very relaxing experience too. This combination of Euphoria along with relaxation is something that a lot of stoners really enjoy. This is a great strain for those seeking stress-relief, or want to light one up after a tiring day at work. This is also a great strain for ending a stayover or a house party when you can light one up with your buddies, hang around for a bit while the euphoria lasts, and then head to the bed once the relaxation starts to kick in.

One more thing that you’ve got to keep in mind about the effect that this strain has on you – it will be a long-lasting high so make sure you have some time at hand before you light one up. The Cali OG Kush Haze strain provides a yield of about 500 grams per square meter when you grow it indoors, but provides about 300 grams per plant when you grow it outdoors. While it doesn’t really have a high CBD concentration, this strain is still good enough for some basic pain relief, and is also pretty good for those who suffer from a lack of appetite. Those with anxiety or depression can also benefit from the effects that this strain has on you.

4. Blood Orange Kush Feminized Seeds

Blood Orange Kush Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: Indica-dominant strain

An offspring of three different strains of marijuana – the Blood Orange Kush comes from the Pinecracker Strain, the Aota Strain, as well as an unknown OG Kush strain. The resulting Blood Orange Kush strain has an Indica-dominant lineage, and comes with some really potent THC levels. The CBD levels aren’t high enough, but you do get to see some therapeutic properties here. It grows in about 9 to 10 weeks and provides average yields – expect around 300 to 500 grams per square meter.

The first thing that totally stands out about this strain is that it carries a taste which is rather enjoyable by most stoners. It’s got a mix of sweet lemon and citric notes, along with a tinge of spices. When you exhale it, the smoke leaves behind a fresh, herbal, and spice-like taste around you. The strain provides users with a very happy and euphoric sort of a high. Unlike typical Kush strains which give you a body high, you get a head high here. However, after a while, you also start feeling the relaxing body high. This strain carries up to 24% THC content, which can deliver a strong punch.

Blood Orange Kush carries about 1% CBD levels, but it does carry quite a few medicinal benefits, especially in those dealing with mental health challenges such as PTSD, Depression, Anxiety and Stress among others. As mentioned earlier, this strain gives a very euphoric sort of a high which allows people with these ailments to feel a happy high and provides a comforting experience. The Blood Orange Kush strain is also great for people who have muscular ailments such as knee and back pain, or spasms.

5. Mango Kush Feminized Seeds

Mango Kush Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 65% Indica dominant strain, 35% Sativa lineage
  • THC Level: About 16 to 19%
  • Effect: Happy High, Relaxing, Euphoric

One of the most loved names when it comes to Kush strains, what can we tell you about the Mango Kush strain that you might know already! This is one of the best selling Kush seeds on the ILGM seed bank, and for all the right reasons too. It offers a great combination of taste and buzz, and is an easy to grow strain as well. This is an all-time favorite of many stoners and offers average yields. The Mango Kush strain grows indoors as well as outdoors and isn’t really a demanding one.

The Mango Kush plants grow best when you use the Sea of Green method of growth. When the plant begins to mature, you will notice buds that are rather large, so keep your pruning and trimming devices ready. The strain requires temperatures between 65F to 80F. If you are growing outdoors, watch out for rains as that can have a damaging effect on this strain. It takes between 8 to 9 weeks to attain peak flowering, but once it does you will see about 14 ounces per square meter indoors, and about 16 ounces per plant outdoors.

Mango Kush is a great strain for social occasions because it has a very happy and euphoric sort of a high. It leaves you giggly and often laughing out loud. This is a great party strain if you want to socialize or kick off some social anxiety. The strain has a very sweet taste and smell, which feels like mangoes. That’s also how it gets the name, no points for guessing. The smell that it leaves behind is quite earthy and fruity and it can linger around for quite a bit. This is also a great strain for those dealing with muscular pain, joint pain, stress and depression. If you plan on smoking this strain, make sure you have a bag of munchies next to you because it really opens up your appetite. Totally one of the best Kush cannabis strains out there.

6. Amnesia Kush Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Amnesia Kush Feminized Marijuana Seeds

  • CBD Level: Insignificant

The Amnesia Kush strain is the most ‘ marijuana-looking’ marijuana strain that you can find. It’s got those big and sticky buds come with high yields and offer the classic smell and taste of weed. This is a strain that grows indoors and outdoors with equal ease and there are quite a few medicinal benefits to it as well. This is a pretty popular strain and you can find it easily wherever recreational weed is legal. This is a coffee-shop favorite in Amsterdam. What makes it so special is that it gives you a very strong psychedelic head-high which is quite different from most other Kush strains. The strain has about 20% THC content in it.

This strain was created by crossing the Amnesia Haze strain along with the OG Kush strain. This is a rather large plant that carries a lot of Sativa traits as well. It is tall vertically as well as quite broad when you look at the horizontal growth. You will notice that the fully grown plant has a lot of branches coming out of it too. Amnesia Kush carries a very earthy taste, along with notes of citrus. You can feel those lemony and orange-like notes between the overpowering earthy taste, which is rather refreshing. When you blow out the smoke, it leaves behind a sweet, candy-like smell. The taste profile totally comes from the parent strain of Amnesia Haze.

When you are growing the Amnesia Kush strain, you’ve got to watch out for the height, as it can grow quite tall. Sometimes this strain can attain a height of 3 meters outdoors and usually goes up to or beyond 2 meters indoors. An ideal time to harvest it outdoors is about mid-October. It offers about 800 grams a plant when you grow it outdoors, and about 350 grams per plant when you grow it indoors.

7. Kings Kush Marijuana Seeds (Feminized)

Kings Kush Marijuana Seeds (Feminized)
  • Dominant Strain: 70% Indica dominant strain; 30% Sativa lineage

King’s Kush is a 70% Indica dominant strain created by crossing the OG Kush Strain with the Grape Strain. Breeders at Greenhouse Seed Co. have prepared this strain and it is sold on Seedsman in packs of 3, 5, and 10. It is one of the more popular Kush strains on the platform and is quite frequently out of stock because of the heavy demand. The strain carries a very strong and potent effect and is one of the best options out there for someone who wants to experience a fruity-tasting Indica strain in all its glory.

King’s Kush offers a THC level of about 20% on an average. There might be some variations in some cases, but usually, you get a pretty strong hit from this strain. Especially if you want to enjoy the effects that Cannabis Indica has on you. This is an extremely relaxing strain that will slow down everything around you. It carries very low amounts of CBD (usually around 0.3 to 0.4%) and isn’t really much of a medicinal strain. However, it does help against stress, anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. When our team tried this strain out, all of us reported a very deep and refreshing sleep afterward.

This is an extremely high-yielding strain, which is what attracts a lot of growers towards it – offering up to 800 grams of usable bud per square meter when you grow it indoors, and up to a mammoth 1100 grams per square meter when grown outdoors. If you plan on growing it indoors, we have a pro-tip for you. King’s Kush responds really well to the SCROG technique (Screen of Green) when growing indoors. Low-Stress Training is also pretty effective here. Usually, it takes this strain about 9 weeks to attain peak flowering. With the amount of yield this strain brings, it is totally worth the wait.

8. Banana Kush (Autoflowering) Feminized Seeds

Banana Kush (Autoflowering) Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 60% Indica Dominant Strain
  • THC Level: Up to 27% THC content
  • Effect: Euphoric, Relaxing, Chill, Creative
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized and Autoflowering
  • Seed Bank: ILGM
  • CBD Level: Under 1% CBD
  • Flavor Profile: Banana, Sweet, Berry
  • Flowering Time: About 12 to 14 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 15 oz per square meter indoors

There are a large number of fruit-flavored Kush strains out there, and the Banana Kush strain is among one of them. This is a 60% Indica-dominant strain, which carries a 40% Sativa legacy too. This one here is an autoflowering strain, which grows quickly and without too much of an effort on the grower’s part. The strain offers an unusually high THC concentration for an autoflowering plant and delivers a strong high.

Banana Kush is a cross between Ghost OG, Skunk Haze, and OG Kush. The Banana Kush strain is then crossed with a Ruderalis strain to get the autoflowering variant. The strain gets its name from the strong banana-like scent it leaves around when you exhale the smoke. The strain grows best under the Sea of Green growing method and loves bright lights. You don’t have to worry too much about the photoperiod and the lighting adjustments here because this is an autoflowering strain that takes care of all that on its own. Banana Kush plants usually take about 12 weeks to get ready for harvest. You get up to 15 ounces per square yard when you harvest this strain indoors.

The kind of high that this strain gives you is rather Sativa-like, which is weird for an otherwise Indica-dominant strain. When we smoked the Banana Kush strain, we felt a strong and euphoric high, which made us joke and giggle for hours. This is a total party strain and energizes and refreshes you. This is a very uplifting strain that artists and other creative people tend to consume before getting on with their art. Banana Kush is one of the best kush-type strains for those who are seeking relief from muscular pain and other similar aches.

9. Cola Kush (Fast Version) Marijuana Seeds

Cola Kush (Fast Version) Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: Sativa-dominant strain
  • THC Level: Up to 20% THC concentration
  • Effect: Sedative, Sleepy, Overpowering
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: Up to 3%
  • Flavor Profile: Sweet, Lemony, Skunk-like
  • Flowering Time: About 7 to 8 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 600 grams per square meter

A multi-cultural strain that features lineage from Dutch, Thai, and Brazilian origin strains, the Cola Kush (Fast) is a largely Sativa-dominant plant. It carries high THC levels of about 20% and offers benefits to both – those who want to smoke it for getting ‘high’ recreationally, as well as for those who consume marijuana for its medicinal and therapeutic benefits. This is a fast-growing strain, and while it is not an autoflowering one, it is still ready in about seven to eight weeks. It offers decent yields too, ranging between 400 grams to 600 grams per square meter.

The strain carries a strong smell as well as a sharp taste. This is sweet, but there are some very strong notes of lemon that you can feel when you smoke it. The smell that it leaves behind is extremely strong and skunk-like. You might want to use a lot of room freshener after you’re done smoking this in your room. The strain is well suited for new and experienced growers alike. It grows into a rather small plant, which makes it well suited for indoor growers. We recommend you to grow it in a hot and dry environment. If you plan on growing it outdoors, it will be ready for harvest by mid to late September.

Lastly, the Cola Kush (Fast) strain can give you a very strong and potent high, where you feel an intense feeling of relaxation. It is quite a sedative strain too – if you smoke a little too much of it you’re going to just fall asleep. However, we suggest you don’t do that because the cottonmouth feeling is way too intense with this one. The strain is great for those who are seeking relief from stress, fatigue, or depression. This is also a good strain for those dealing with migraine, muscular pain, or inflammations. All in all, one of the top kush strains out there.

10. Devil Kush Regular Marijuana Seeds

Devil Kush Regular Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: Indica-dominant
  • THC Level: Up to 20%
  • Effect: Relaxing, Comforting, Soothing
  • Type of Seeds: Regular, Non-Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Seedsman
  • CBD Level: Under 1% CBD
  • Flavor Profile: Earthy, Spicy, Pungent, Skunk-like
  • Flowering Time: About 8 weeks on an average
  • Yield: Up to 400 grams per square meter

The Devil Kush strain is developed by the breeders at Exotic Seeds by crossing three marijuana strains together. The primary being the Purple Strain and the OG Kush Strain, and a third one being their own creation – the Sir Jack strain of marijuana. The offspring that was created was called ‘Devils Kush’. This strain has a very unique structure to it and grows largely in a single-cola pattern. This is a good strain for all types of growth methods – indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse.

If you are planning on growing the Devil Kush marijuana strain, we strongly recommend using the Sea of Green method. Their single-cola pattern really responds well to this method and you will get larger yields this way. Indoor growers get about 400 grams per meter square at best with this strain, which is pretty average. It will take you about 8 weeks to fully grow this strain. Do keep in mind that this is not an autoflowering strain and you will need to manually reduce the lighting hours in order to trigger flowering. The buds that grow on this strain are rich in resin and are quite dense and moist. People who want to extract resin from buds to consume in ways other than smoking the weed would love this strain.

The kind of high that you experience when you smoke the Devil Kush strain is very relaxing and allows you to de-stress after a long and tiring day. The strain has a classic earthy, skunk-like, and spicy taste that you would typically associate with other members of the Kush family. While the exact THC and CBD content hasn’t been ascertained by the breeder, we’d guess it is somewhere between 15 to 20% THC and under 1% CBD on this one. All in all, a good strain that grows rather fast.

11. Kosher Kush Feminized Marijuana Seeds

Kosher Kush Feminized Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 100% Indica Dominant Strain
  • THC Level: Up to 29% THC
  • Effect: Relaxing, Couch Lock, Body High
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: Insignificant
  • Flavor Profile: Pine, Lemon, Citrus
  • Flowering Time: About 9 to 10 weeks on an average
  • Yield: Up to 19 oz per square meter indoors

The Kosher Kush strain is a special one. This is a 100% Indica-strain, which provides you a very intense body high that will ensure you sink back into your couch and feel a refreshing experience. This is a highly awarded strain, winning the High Times Cannabis Cup in the best Indica strain category multiple times. It was also awarded the overall Best Cannabis Strain of 2011. It has a high THC level and is also a strain that is quite easy to grow – be it indoors or outdoors. For a very long time, the Kosher Kush strain was available as clone-only. However, over the past few years, seeds are also available for growing this strain.

This is a 100% Indica strain with THC levels sometimes going as high as 29%. This is an extremely high amount of THC for any strain – and when you consider the fact that this is a Kush strain, the high is even more intense. It puts you into a couch-lock that you can’t escape from. It will ensure you are well-rested and feel very relaxed and refreshed once the effects of the strain are gone. It also brings a sensation of happiness and euphoria along. People also report an increase in appetite when smoking this strain so keep some snacks around you.

Kosher Kush is considered to be one of the best-tasting as well as best-smelling strains of marijuana these days. The strain offers a mix of citrus and pine along with some earthy notes. The smell that it leaves behind is largely spicy and herbal with some notes of pine. The smell is rather strong and continues to linger around for a while. Talking of the smell, you’ve got to keep an eye out for the smell when growing these plants because they tend to grow up to 2 meters in height and have a very strong odor, especially in the flowering phase.

12. OG Kush CBD Feminized Seeds

OG Kush CBD Feminized Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 75% Indica-dominant strain, 25% Sativa genetics
  • THC Level: Under 1% THC
  • Effect: Medical, Healing, Therapeutic, Relaxing
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized

  • CBD Level: Up to 15% CBD concentration
  • Flavor Profile: Herbal, Lemon-like, Spicy, Pine
  • Flowering Time: Usually around 8 weeks
  • Yield: Up to 17 Oz per square meter

This is another strain from the Kush family of strains, but quite different from what we have seen here. This is the OG Kush CBD strain, which is a CBD dominant strain compared to most other such strains which are usually THC-dominant. The strain is preferred by those who are looking forward to growing some medical marijuana. This is the OG Kush strain that has been crossed with another CBD-heavy strain to provide a medicinal effect. The strain grows pretty well indoors, provided you provide it with a lot of light.

The OG Kush CBD strain is one of the easier-to-grow strains, which is quite resistant to pests and other similar damaging elements. The strain doesn’t even grow too tall and is perfect if you plan on growing it indoors in a grow tent. The plants usually remain between the height of 19 to 37 inches. These plants start flowering early and peak by 9 weeks of indoor growing. If you plan on growing them outdoors, expect them to be ready by mid to late October. With this strain, you get a yield of about 17 oz per square meter.

Since this is a CBD-heavy strain and carries almost 1% THC content, you can’t really get high when you smoke it. However, you will feel a lot of therapeutic effects. Smoking this strain will help you get relief from a number of ailments and health conditions such as inflammations and body aches, joint pain, and other similar chronic pain. You also get relief from anxiety, stress, and insomnia when you smoke this strain. With 15% CBD content in it, this is one of the strongest and the most potent strains of medical marijuana. The OG Kush CBD feminized strain tastes quite spicy and pine-like and leaves a herbal and lemony smell in the smoke that you exhale.

13. Skywalker Kush (Feminized) Marijuana Seeds

Skywalker Kush (Feminized) Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: 85% Indica Dominant, 15% Sativa Genetics
  • THC Level: Between 18 to 25% THC content
  • Effect: Relaxing, Sedative, Powerful Body High
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized

  • CBD Level: Unspecified but low

  • Yield: Up to 600 grams per square meter

The Skywalker Kush strain comes from the talented bunch of breeders at DNA Genetics and is sold on the Seedsman Seed Bank. The strain was created as a cross between two extremely popular strains – the OG Kush Strain and the Skywalker strain. This is a strain that sees a peak in demand during early May, as the world celebrates May The Fourth and Revenge of the Fifth on the 4th and 5th of May. However, Star Wars references aside, this is a great strain if you are looking for something from the Kush family that offers you a strong buzz and high yields.

This strain usually carries a THC concentration of about 18 to 25% which is good enough to deliver a strong punch. This isn’t one of those strains that will straight-up give you a buzz in a couple of drags but is a slow burn. However, when the effects of this strain finally get to you, it is a relaxing feeling like no other. This is one of the strongest ‘Indica’ sensations that you can experience while smoking weed. You experience a very strong body high when you smoke this strain.

The Skywalker Kush strain will also make you very hungry – making this a great strain for anyone who would like to consume it for opening up their appetite. While it is not so high on CBD levels, it is still a pretty good strain for those dealing with anxiety, insomnia, stress, or pain. Once this strain has matured, you will see a splash of colors around it – there will be white trichomes along with orange hair surrounding it. The strain offers a mix of sweet-and-spicy sort of a taste with a few tangy citrus elements here and there. The smell that it leaves behind is strong, skunk-like, and pungent.

14. Autoflowering Diamond Kush Marijuana Seeds

Autoflowering Diamond Kush Marijuana Seeds
  • Dominant Strain: Indica dominant strain
  • THC Level: Unspecified but between 15 to 20%
  • Effect: Intense Relaxation, Sedative, Couch Lock
  • Type of Seeds: Feminized, Autoflowering
  • Seed Bank: Crop King Seeds
  • CBD Level: Under 1%
  • Flavor Profile: Sweet, Pine, Fruity, Herbal
  • Flowering Time: Between 9 to 10 weeks on an average
  • Yield: Up to 500 grams per square meter

The Autoflowering Diamond Kush strain comes as a cross between three pretty impressive strains – the Bubba Kush strain, the White Widow Strain, and the OG Kush Auto strain. This strain has one of the strongest effects that any strain of the Kush family can deliver, given two of the three parents here come from that pedigree. The third of the lot, the OG Kush Auto strain is responsible for the Autoflowering abilities of this plant. This one takes a little longer to flower compared to a regular autoflowering plant – as it takes up to 10 weeks at times.

Diamond Kush delivers a very unique taste profile. When you start off with it, it gives you some really sweet notes, but as you progress, it begins to taste a little earthy and spicy. The smell that lingers around the room once you are done smoking it is quite pine-like and refreshing. All in all, when it comes to stimulating your taste buds and your nose, this is just the perfect strain. While there’s limited CBD content in it, this is a great strain for those dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, and other similar mental-health-related challenges. It is also a great strain that helps ADD/ADHD patients improve their focus.

Talking about an improved focus, what really surprises us is that the kind of high that you get from this strain is both Indica-like, as well as Sativa-like. The Sativa-like euphoria and improved focus and creativity are felt pretty strongly here even though two of the three parents are Indica-dominant. Once the mind-high slows down, the Indica-like effects also start to show up, allowing you to relax better and to get a very comfortable sensation. Diamond Kush is absolutely one of the best strains out there for people who want to enjoy a relaxed high but not lose all their inhibition while they are at it.

15. Blackberry Kush Feminized Seeds

  • Flowering Time: About 8 Weeks on Average
  • Yield: Up to 17 oz per square meter

An Indica-dominant strain of the Kush family, the Blackberry Kush comes from crossing the Blackberry Hybrid strain with the Afghan Indica strain. It is a much-loved strain among those who like to smoke weed that’s a little on the sweeter side when it comes to the taste and smell. It offers a strong and euphoric, as well as a comforting high. The strain carries insignificant amounts of CBD content and is largely a recreational strain. The THC content is about 20% which is good enough to get the stoners buzzed.

When it is grown to its fullest, the strain has a dark purple sort of a color along with dense green patches. Not only is it a good-looking strain, but also one that tastes great. There are strong blackberry-like elements here, obviously. However, other than that, you can also notice fruity and a sweet, grape-like, taste. It feels fresh and spicy when you exhale the smoke and leaves behind a skunk-like pungent smell that you typically associate with marijuana plants.

This is a heavy-hitting strain that offers a relaxing but euphoric high. It allows you to calm yourself down both mentally as well as physically. It has an extremely relaxing high and once the effects begin to slow down, you will feel like you have just walked out of a massage parlor. This is also a great strain for those who suffer from restlessness at night or from insomnia. It will help you sleep better. When you smoke the strain, make sure you keep a lot of water near you as you will feel quite a bit of thirst and dry mouth.

Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose The Best Kush Strains?

There are dozens of strains out there that are of the ‘Kush’ type or have descended from them. However, how do you choose which of these strains you want to buy? There are a number of factors that come into play, as every person who consumes weed might want to select a strain for a different reason. However, it is important that you go through all the metrics. This is why we have prepared this buyer’s guide for you so that you know what are the different factors that need to be considered before buying your kush strain:

THC Level:

First and foremost, one of the biggest factors that people consider while buying a Kush strain is the amount of THC it carries in it. THC is the compound that is responsible for the psychoactive properties of the marijuana plant. Generally speaking, Kush strains are consumed for recreational reasons. People just want to get high off these strains, and hence the THC level plays an important part.

The higher the THC content present in the strain of your choice, the stronger the chances of you getting absolutely ‘stoned’. Make sure you check out the THC% before you decide on your strain.

Ease of Growth:

This is another important factor that people often overlook while buying marijuana strains – the ease of growth with which they can be grown. This is critical to consider if you are a beginner or a first-time grower. Do check for strains that are easy to grow. Most seed banks specify this in their description, and we have also mentioned it in our list of strains above.

Strains that are easy to grow are generally pest resistant and autoflowering. These strains are also those which do not require the grower to make use of a complex method of growing – and do not require frequent bending, cutting, or pruning. This keeps things simple for the first-timer.

Indoor or Outdoor Strain:

While an overwhelming majority of cannabis strains generally tend to perform better and provide higher yields when you grow them outside, it is not possible for every grower to be able to grow them outdoors because of legal or social reasons. Hence, there are a number of growers who prefer indoor plants.

An indoor plant is one that can adapt to different environments, provide a good yield indoors, and does not grow too tall in height. There are some marijuana plants that can attain heights up to 12 to 13 ft and it is not practical to grow them indoors.

Yield:

The end result of any activity is to get the ideal returns on your investment. When you invest in a marijuana plant – you are not only spending your money on the setup, but you are also spending a lot of your time on it. Marijuana plants require a lot of care and monitoring, and hence you should look for strains that provide high yields.

We generally consider anything between 450 to 550 grams as average yields, and anything above that is a high-yielding strain. Strains that offer less than 450 grams per square meter are low-yielding strains. However, people sometimes opt for low-yielding strains if they have a very unique taste, or if they carry a very high level of THC or CBD.

Autoflowering:

Another factor that some growers generally prefer considering is whether or not the strain that they are going to buy is an ‘autoflowering’ one. Autoflowering plants have a distinct advantage when compared to regular strains – they tend to flower on their own. Strains that aren’t autoflowering need the grower to trigger the flowering process manually – by reducing the lights that they are providing to the plants.

Autoflowering plants do not have any such photoperiod requirements and the flowers in these plants automatically begin to bloom after reaching a certain stage in their growth cycle. This makes it easier for the growers. However, chances are that they may produce lesser yields and lower THC levels compared to regular strains, so that is one factor that you’ve got to keep in mind while choosing your favorite Kush strain.

Medical Properties:

Not everyone consumes marijuana for the same reason – while there are a lot of people out there who want to get high off the weed that they are consuming, there are others who are probably looking for medicinal benefits. The marijuana plant carries a lot of medical properties, including relief from physical as well as mental ailments. The strain can also provide relief from the side effects of treatments such as chemotherapy, or other similar treatments. Weed can also help you sleep better.

CBD levels are generally seen as a metric by which you can gauge the medical properties of a plant. The higher the CBD levels, the stronger the medical effects are likely to be, so keep an eye out for this number.

Taste and Smell:

Different people like to consume their weed in different ways. There are some stoners who would prefer a more classic and ‘authentic’ taste of marijuana – which is the pungent and skunk-like smell that one typically associates with it. Then there are some stoners who prefer consuming weed in a more sophisticated manner – with a special taste and smell to it.

Every strain has its own unique taste and smell. Some may smell of honey and lemons while others have a skunk-like smell, and then there are some which provide the freshness of pine and spices. Some taste berry-like and fruity while others have an earthy taste. Choose your strain based on what your taste Kush strains tell you.

Effect:

Lastly, you also have to keep the kind of effect that these strains have in mind. There are some strains that deliver a strong ‘body high’ while there are others that deliver a ‘head high’. Some strains can make you lethargic, couch-locked, and sleepy, while there are other strains that make you focused, productive, and energetic. Choose your Kush strains based on the kind of buzz you want to experience from them.

1. What makes a Kush strain different from other Indica strains?

Indica strains can be grown anywhere, but in order to be called a ‘Kush’ strain, it has to trace its origin from the Hindu Kush region. The name comes from a specific geographical region – and only the strains that are grown here, or are created by having a Kush plant as a parent can be called Kush or Hybrid-Kush strains. Indica strains that do not have a connection with this region cannot be called ‘Kush’ plants. This unique geographical origin is the primary differentiator between regular Indica strains and Kush strains. In fact, there are some Sativa-dominant Kush strains too, some of which are in our list as well.

2. Do Kush strains have any significant medicinal benefits?

Being a marijuana plant of the Kush lineage doesn’t really guarantee that it will carry medicinal benefits. However, most marijuana plants in general do carry some basic therapeutic effects such as helping reduce stress, easing aching muscles, reducing aches and pains, and an overall effect on helping deal with anxiety and depression. Those Kush strains with a higher CBD content will generally tend to have stronger medicinal properties and might offer something more than these basic therapeutic properties. Some high-CBD strains can help provide relief from gastro-intestinal problems, as well as relief from pain caused by Glaucoma and some other similar diseases.

4. Are Kush strains easy to grow for beginners?

Different strains, different levels of ease. Most Kush strains, however, are easy to grow because they aren’t a really demanding sort of a strain. You might not get ideal yield or quality of buds, but it won’t be dead either. You’ve got to keep them protected against pests and insects, but other than that, members of the Kush strains are pretty beginner-friendly plants which you can grow comfortably even with limited experience.

5. What kind of climate do Kush strains need to grow?

You need to have an idea of the geographical region where the Kush strains originate from. Kush strains trace their origin to the Af-Pak region and the Hindu Kush mountains. These are areas which are largely hot and the air is dry, but there is quite a bit of wind passing through over there. These areas also receive a lot of sunlight. The soil isn’t typically nutrient-rich, but these plants still thrive over there. Hence, these are the kind of conditions that you need to recreate inside your grow tent. Make sure you provide a lot of light, a good air circulation, low humidity, and some warmth but don’t make it so hot that your plants die!

6. How much do Kush Strains Cost?

Different Kush strains come in at different price points – depending also on the quantity that you are buying them in and the seed bank that you are buying them from. Nonetheless, there might be some strains that might not be Sativa dominant but would still feature a higher level of Sativa genes than usual. These trees can grow a little taller. But most strains of the Kush family will be able to fit inside a grow tent with ease.
